GODSPELL Fundraiser

Dramatic Finale in RFCT's performance of GODSPELLOn February 7th and 8th, 2015, NSUMC was blessed to host two outstanding presentations of GODSPELL by Riverhead Faculty Community Theater (RFCT). The cast was overjoyed to perform this show again after their very successful run in November 2014. When approached with the idea of performing it again as a benefit for the Good Samaritan House, the RFCT was very willing to see all the proceeds go toward that end. Continue reading

Thrift Shop News

thriftshopAfter many necessary renovations, the Thrift Shop plans to open on February 12.

The original reopening date was set for February 5, but unfortunately, we were not able to open on that date. Until the winter storm hit on January 24/25, all construction had gone very smoothly, like clockwork. The Trustees obtained the necessary estimates, awarded the contracts, and scheduled everything in the order it had to be done. Amazingly, the contractors came when they were scheduled, worked diligently and sometimes finished more quickly than they had planned. Even the few surprises that were revealed as work was in process, did not cause major setbacks. The work proceeded quickly and with just a few days to go, opening on February 5 seemed a certainty. Brainstretching and Focusing FORward at the FORtreat!

Isaiah provided the day’s dominant theme as 16 members of the NSUMC family gathered on January 24 “to focus forward for the future of our church.”

From Isaiah 43: “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is!” [Verses 18 & 19, Message].

After opening prayer and praise, our responses to the question, “What brings me joy at NSUMC?” gave us a solid foundation for looking forward. The people. Our music. Laughter. Sense of family. Teamwork. Maureen’s Haven. Crafty Ladies and the fun we have. Thrift Shop joy. Compassion for others. Serving others. And more. Continue reading

Music Director Fady Deeb: Another Wonderful Blessing from God

“God has been more than generous to NSUMC,” said guitarist Pete Zaita. “He keeps sending us amazingly talented musicians, who are also very good people, to help us worship Him.”

Nearly four months have passed since Stephen Gamboa left for Yale School of Music to continue his harpsichord study in the prestigious Artist Diploma program.
