Poetry by Jeanette Dowdell: “The Word”

thanksgiving
A friend said, ‘Thanksgiving is a lovely day and word,’
I agreed; it was the way it was said – the tone I heard,
Truly, it means so much,
It’s obviously one of a few days we take time to keep in touch,
A day of acknowledgment for all we have, not, for all we have not,
Love, and warmth, and joy abound ~ few things are forgot,
Whether cloudy, rainy or snowy, the sun will shine,
Most plates will be full; blessings will be on our mind,
As we remember, God is the one who giveth and taketh away,
But, He seems always to giveth in abundance on this day,
It’s not just the turkey and the trimmings,
It’s something within that warms the heart; special feelings,
So my wish for all of you is simple, not deep,
Enjoy every breath, every moment, and then rest content, when it’s time to sleep,
For all that you know about life, all that you have heard,
Will be reinforced with thanksgiving, while revisiting the meaning of the ‘Day’ and …
“THE WORD”

A BLESSED AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL
