Poetry by Jeanette Dowdell: “Everywhere”

sunrise

The sun went – the sun came,
Darkness succumbed to its enveloping flame,
It rose on high, golden and bright,
A rosy-fingered dawn kissed each star goodnight,
And so the process continues each day,
As crescendos of time are whisked away,
They cannot be brought back,
Alas and alack,
But joy can be found with just a peek at the moon?
Eavesdropping on the whistling wind, humming its favorite tune?
Following clouds in endless motion at play,
Altocumulus, undulates and cumulus congestus wonders having their daily say,
Dewdrops slipping on blades of grass, resting on spider webs and twigs,
‘Polly noses’ twirling down like little tiny ‘whirligigs,’
Acorns dropping, reverberating like huge drums,
Seasons moving along in their usual customs,
All around us blessings grow,
And if we are aware and astute, we will come to know,
Who really is in charge – the buzzing bee, the butterfly, the lightning bug on high?
No, the hand of God lives in each creation’s modus operandi,
How blessed we are – blessed beyond compare,
We do not have to search beauty it’s just there; where?
